Grape Republic

Grape Republic is an innovative natural winery in Yamagata, Japan, founded by restaurateurs and sommeliers Kazuomi Fujimaki and Takayuki Taira. Officially established in 2017 in Nanyo City, the winery was born out of a desire to revitalize the region’s rapidly growing number of abandoned farmhouses and agricultural lands. Driven by a philosophy of “Made of 100% Grapes,” their core mission is to promote sustainable organic farming and restore local agricultural traditions. By crafting vibrant, additive-free natural wines using regional hybrid grapes and Spanish clay amphoras, Grape Republic aims to attract a new generation of farmers and transform the city into a hub for agritourism.
