Based in Alameda, proudly independent St. George Spirits was founded by Jörg Rupf, who established the artisan distillery in 1982. He was new to America, here on assignment from Germany’s Ministry of Culture. Jörg fell in love with the Bay Area’s nascent food culture, which resonated with his family’s distillation style in the Black Forest. Almost forty years later, St. George is at the vanguard of the American craft spirit revolution.
