The Activist – Lisa Bennett

Lisa Bennett takes care of accounting, daily books, banking, taxes, and bureaucratic paperwork for the Market. She usually works in our back office and at her home in Sausalito. Before COVID-19, Lisa would help out as a cashier, where she really loved meeting customers and connecting with the community.

To Lisa, Driver’s is much more than a grocery store. “We are a community within our community, where we recognize the essential need to provide healthy and ethically-sourced food,” she said. “That care comes through in the way we treat our employees, our customers, and our vendors.”

A few years ago, Lisa retired as a CPA and became involved in local social justice organizations. She is the co-founder of Indivisible Sausalito, and has served on the boards of ICE Out of Marin, the MultiCultural Center of Marin, and the ACLU Marin, among others. In 2020, Lisa was elected to the Democratic Central Committee of Marin.

Lisa and her husband, Paul Geffner, are partners at Driver’s Market and Sausalito Fitness. She and Paul have lived in Sausalito since 1996, and raised their son Ben here.
