Bread SRSLY, a gluten-free love story

Bread SRSLY makes delicious, moist and nourishing gluten-free sourdough breads.

It started with a college crush, a gluten-intolerant San Franciscan. Sadie Scheffer began to bake loaves of gluten-free sourdough bread in hopes of winning him over. The first attempts weren’t completely successful. “I got to work experimenting with new ingredients – sorghum flour, sweet rice, buckwheat,” Sadie recalls. “Many of my attempts ended up in the compost, but when one came out well, I would ask Jesse to come try it. Luckily for me I developed a good understanding of gluten-free ingredients, because a few months later I learned that I was pretty seriously gluten-intolerant myself!

Before long, her breads were so delicious and plentiful that she founded Bread SRSLY, a company dedicated to sharing nourishing and tasty bread with sensitive eaters. And the boy? He couldn’t resist the charms of her sourdough, built a bicycle to help her deliver loaves throughout San Francisco, and they’ve been together ever since.

In addition to being gluten-free, all Bread SRSLY products are free of dairy, egg, nut, soy, corn, tapioca, potato and garbanzo bean. The company sources ingredients with care and uses as much organic and local food as possible.
