Our wine merchant Niesa always picks the most exciting wines for the holidays! Here are her picks for holiday celebrations and New Year’s Eve:
Happy Holidays y’all!! ‘Tis the season of joy, twinkling lights and holiday parties. Here are some wines guaranteed to bring lots of cheer. First, it is with much excitement and enthusiasm that I announce the arrival of two new wines from winemaker Dylan Lundstrom. Aubry is a Napa Valley Cabernet from a small vineyard in Coombsville that Dylan farms himself. The wine is a nod to a classic 70’s Napa style, a restrained powerhouse with earthy undertones and hints of petrichor. His second wine Famille is a Central Coast Tempranillo that he’s making with Nic Coturri. No added sulfur, just delicious, easy drinking, Cali red wine.
How could I do a holiday wine write up without my favorite food group, um I mean wine style…BUBBLES!!! As you know the store has a lot of them and this is no accident! I’ve selected a few that I think you will love. Nowack S.A. Champagne, 60% Meunier 40% Chardonnay. Extra Brut in style, this means DRY. Mineral and perfect for any occasion, especially ones with sequins!! Next we have two wines from neighboring mountain regions in France, the Jura and Savoie. Domaine Tissot in the Jura makes some of my favorite bubbles, and the Brut Rose always has my heart. It’s a beautiful blend of Pinot with two native Jura grapes, Poulsard and Trousseau. Petit Royal from the Savoie is a blend of Molette and Altesse, both native to the region. This wine wayyyyy over delivers. If you are hosting a party and want your guests to keep asking what’s in their glass, pour this. It’s not expensive, just exceptional. Finally, I always love a Local Bubble. Especially one with fruit grown in Marin!! Carboniste is a blend of Pinot and Chardonnay. Don’t let the crown cap fool you, this is some seriously delicious California sunshine.
Cheers to 2022!! Let’s pop some corks!!
