Our supplement buyer Danya Mosgofian evaluates products and companies before bringing them in, and does the homework for customers. Since she started at Driver’s in 2015, Danya sets a high standard for supplements. “I prefer food-based products because they absorb better. Non-GMO, preferably organic, and no giant corporate manufacturers,” she said.
Danya is trained in herbal medicine, and produces her own line of remedies called the Sultry Gypsy Herb Co. Now celebrating ten years of medicine making, Danya explains that she named her business to evoke the sense of a “free, untamable spirit.” A lifelong artist, in 2010 she began studying herbal medicine at Forestville’s California School for Herbal Studies. “I was inspired by what I learned there to make alcohol-free remedies because they are very uncommon,” says Danya. She has created a range of herbal formulas with no alcohol, and more efficacy and strength than what was available. We offer many of her remedies, including a pain salve and formulas that target various symptoms: Women’s Libido, Headache Relief, Cramp-Ease, Gentle Sleep, Brain Gain, Second Immunity, Fussy Gut Relief, Nerve Ease and Relax.
“I have always felt some kind of connection to earth-based medicines,” Danya says, adding that her mother began exploring homeopathic remedies in the early 1980s. “So with good practical instincts, combined with my life’s experience and my health issues that give me insight into how they manifest and function, I felt driven to create my own work to share with people.”
The advantages of her alcohol-free remedies lie in both better taste and greater potency, Danya says. She notes there are quite a few people who either cannot or do not consume alcohol, so it’s good for them to have concentrated herbal formulas as an option and not just singular herbs. Her products are also soy and gluten-free. “I really hope my remedies can help provide that option and help people!”
