Born in New Jersey, Emily Winston grew up eating a lot of bagels. Her favorites were from H&H on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. When she moved to the West Coast in 2010, she not only missed New York bagels, but was really disappointed when H&H closed. Emily embarked on a journey, through trial and error, to create the bagels she longed to eat. After years of experimenting, she got a cottage food license and started doing pop-ups in Berkeley. By 2019, Boichik Bagels were making “Best of” lists in San Francisco, and Emily opened her first retail bakery on College Avenue. We now carry Boichik bagels in the freezer here at Driver’s, and serve them up fresh in the Deli!
