July 2022 – The opportunity to build a catering program for the Market brought Carolyn King to Driver’s in 2018. She has been an integral part of the team from the start, handling multiple roles including menu development and catering manager. “I love the creative outlet that catering provides, getting to work with organic produce and so many specialty products,” she said.
Carolyn brings years of knowledge and experience in the food industry to her role at Driver’s. She graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York in 2008, and worked as a chef in Melbourne, Australia for a year. Before coming to Driver’s, she was a bread baker for Josey Baker Bread in San Francisco.
For Adam Driver, Carolyn’s professional background is a big advantage to the Market. “In addition to single-handedly managing our catering department, Carolyn’s creativity and culinary experience has really taken our deli menu to the next level,” said Adam. “We are so lucky to have her in the Driver’s family!”
Carolyn regularly updates our Catering menu with seasonal produce and new specialty products. Much of her inspiration comes from talking to her coworkers and friends, and seeing what they’re eating and making for their families. She then tests recipes until they are ready for the menu. “I love to follow what produce is in season, and see what the farms are growing,” she said.
The result is an ever evolving Catering menu, with a seasonal selection of grazing boards, focaccia sandwich platters, and salads that will make any occasion feel like a celebration.
Outside of work, Carolyn likes to spend time with family, and see her toddler, Sonny, experience things for the first time. She loves cooking for friends and family, and hiking in the Bay Area.
Carolyn’s favorites from the Deli: Hot Pastrami sandwich, and Fattoush salad. In Catering, the Mediterranean grazing board and the Veggie Cream Cheese focaccia platter.
