Bellwether Farms

Cindy Callahan was 50 when she made a bold life change, moving from nursing to the dairy business. At the suggestion of a friend, Cindy started to consider milking the sheep she kept on her Sonoma County land. She convinced her son Liam, then studying at Cal, to learn about sheep farming and cheese-making with her. Bellwether Farms started making hand-crafted sheep cheeses in 1990. By 1996, Liam’s wife Diana joined the team. Today, Diana and Liam handle daily operations, while Cindy focuses on the sheep, still delivering all the lambs born at Bellwether. Truly a family affair! Their Whole Milk Basket Ricotta is a 2022 Good Food Award winner!
